SECQAI win co-funding from DESNZ to build ultra-low energy consumption AI hardware

SECQAI secure co-funding through the government’s Net Zero Innovation Portfolio to drive decarbonisation with innovative AI hardware.

London, UK – SECQAI is delighted to announce that they have secured co-funding from the AI for Decarbonisation competition. The co-funding, provided by the UK’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) as part of their AI for Decarbonisation Programme, will enable the company to begin development of ultra-low-power AI hardware. With significant potential to advance the decarbonisation of AI applications more generally, it shares close synergies with the remainder of SECQAI’s technology portfolio.

The co-funding from the Department is a part of the UK government's £1 billion Net Zero Innovation Portfolio (NZIP), and is intended to, “transform the way industries cut their carbon emissions.” This commitment from the UK Government represents a clear intention to deploy the UK’s latest and best home-grown technology to combat one of the greatest threats faced by our generation: climate change.

“It’s a privilege to have secured co-funding from the Government’s Department for Energy Security and Net Zero,” said Rahul Tyagi, CEO and Co-founder of SECQAI. “We have all seen the immense amount of energy taken to build, train and run the latest AI applications. As models become more complex, the parameters involved and training data increases, further strain will be placed on our natural resources. By remodelling our hardware architecture after the human brain, with energy efficiency as the key design principal, we can address this problem head on. That way, we can continue to realise the benefits of AI in our society without it being at the expense of our natural environment.”
